Some really good points made by Flex in his post. I tend to agree with his analogy about 'little old Stourbridge'. It did seem so much better and certainly played into our hands when we were the underdog. I remember our very first game back at Southern League Premier level, away at Gloucester City when they were ground sharing at Cirencester. We got stuffed 4-0 and I remember having the conversation with Mike from the Moorings and all the others in the van on the way down saying we would be chuffed if we kept it below 6! They were great days though, the atmosphere seemed so much better then. We were all as one, Committee, management, players, supporters. We all socialised together, drank together. Happy days. After every home match, the entire management team, the chairman (Steve Hyde) and the majority of the players and fans used to pile down the Moorings for a sing song, a laugh and a good drink. Cant imagine it now. (I know the Moorings is shut before any comedian mentions it!). Back to the point, things did seem a lot better as a smaller club and as the underdog. Much more close knit. As Flex says, it will always feel our club, but in my opinion not in the same way.
