HomeOh dear ! Last night was not meant to happen. There we all were, looking forward to a home game at last, with an almost fully-fit squad and against a team that had only collected 1 point from a possible 21 on its travels. Surely the 3 points were ours for the taking ?
But........we were awful, summed up by the calamitous goal ! The early signs were promising but Sutton began to come into the game more, missing one glorious chance. After they'd gone down to 10 men after 5 minutes into the second half, they defended in depth and we had not got the nous to use our numerical advantage, being too one-dimensional with Matt being over-used and Chris being starved.
To me, only Kristian emerged with any credit and it makes me wonder if our strong-in-depth squad on paper is all that strong.
After 1/4 of the season, we have achieved only 50% of points available which, if carried on, will leave us in a mid-table position only at season-end.
No doubt if we beat Nantwich, all focus will be on the lucrative FA Cup but our current disappointing league position and form must not be overlooked.
