I have had a message that was sent to me which I have been asked to share with everyone.....

'Could you please let everyone know that Ben is not having a minor operation but a major one, reconstructing the bones in his ear. This operation cannot be delayed any longer, and he will be bedbound for 10 days and he is gutted that he wont be able to be with the lads when we face Workington.'

Hope it goes well Ben - you will be missed!

There are two Ben Billingham threads Jack, you might want to merge them. Hope Ben's op goes smoothly and he is soon back playing with the lads.

I told a lot of people on Saturday that i'd heard it was a 4 1/2 hour op and that it was serious,he needs it doing or he could lose his balance.

My own late father had shingles of the middle ear, only the second case his specialist had seen in 33 years of dealing with ear problems.

Dad was bed bound for 9 weeks and had to learn to walk again afterwards, his balance was always poor after that point even though he was only in his mid 50's when he contracted the problem.

The middle ear is a very tricky thing to deal with,i wish Ben lot's of luck, this will be no walk in the park.

God knows how the paper could describe it a a "minor operation".

If it's the Stourbridge News then I think it's quite easy to see how they could describe it as "minor".

It sounds anything but.

I think the message to Jack was from his mom / relative and I suspect as DA points out it was in reference to the paper saying it was a minor op.
Lazy journalism once again!

Its a pity we will be losing him just as he is on great form. Hopefully it will all go smoothly both for him personally and for his football.

My dad's shingles was a different sort of problem Nath,we are also 25 years on and i'm sure Ben will be in good hands.

Anyway mate,he'll be sleeping in a nice comfy bed and not on a bench :-]]

Have you applied to the club for a job?

I've heard they're looking out for a new raffle ticket seller as the present one is an unreliable sort with a history of bad hairdo's :-]]

Maybe we should start doing a bit of escorting Tricky, what do you think? I'm sure there are plenty of women out there who would gladly pay for our company. You could start by charging your missus a fiver every time she's feeling a bit frisky. You would soon have enough to pay the concession price on the Workington coach!

Maybe Ben could join us escorting while he recovers....although on second thoughts,we wouldn't want to risk him being out for longer still with a groin strain.

I could always be your wing man to satisfy the ugly 2 o'clock brigade.Very Happy

A great idea Nathan.

Tricky could open "Butt Ugly Escorts".........theres always a niche market for that type of thing.

Are we talking about our "mutual" Irish friend??
If we are then that wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
One look at him says "wrong un".....if ever there was a "wrong un" then this character ticks ALL the boxes.

I've just heard from Alison Billingham,Ben's mom with an update regarding Ben's operation today. She has just been in to see him, they want Ben to stop in tonight as the operation went on longer than expected and he didn't come round as they would have liked,he is still feeling a little groggy. The first thing he asked was how Stour had got on! He sends his thanks to all of us four our concern.

It goes without saying, we wish you all the best mate.

Yes Tricky,I'm disgusted with myself. Can't really blame the bottle of red and 5 pints. Obviously I meant for and not four!
