Prediction time

With a week to go I'm going to be the first to throw my hat in the ring.

I'm going to predict a disappointing 8th as our final league position.
I hope I'm wrong but we look exceptionally shaky at the back without Macca.

Will wait until tomorrow to give a more specific prediction. But certainly not as well as last year. Don't think we've replaced Mackey, and we certainly haven't replaced Macca. Granted it was always going to be hard replacing the best centre back in the league & 1 of the best strikers, but even so, I think we could have done better.

The best centre back in league? Good defender yes, best in league .... No.

I will say 4th.

Daly, perhaps. Having seen 90% of teams in the league last year I can't think of any other better.

Today's result, Hemel 2-3 St Albans with the visitors coming from 2-0 down to win, with John Frendo scoring the winner. They could be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Agree with tricky tree that we could struggle.
Seen three per season games and got to say not impressed.
Will miss macca but think we can find somebody to replace him. As for Mackey as TRM says on another forum wasn't that impressed with him and didn't contribute much to the team.
We need width and certainly a midfielder who can run the game for us.
Surprised at the departure of Cresswell who signed before pre season started as a trainee at man U. Gary says doesn't play to out style sorry but dont man U play a passing game.
Think deards could have made a difference but we didn't give him a chance.
One think that doesn't change is the management having a go at the officials. Surely better to encourage the players to do better.

Was speaking to a couple of people at Solihull yesterday and apparently we have a decent centre half lined up but I can't remember his name...nory help me out please.
Also got told by a player(I won't name players names as I don't believe it to be ethical)that "the God"Rocky should be fit in September....as good as a new signing in my book....I know at least one person who won't agree.

I am pessimistic before the start of most seasons - last time out I reckoned we'd finish 8th, so what do I know?

I have not seen any of the friendlies for one reason or another so I'm going at it "cold". We've lost one good player in Macca and his replacement (Hickman) has picked up a long-term injury. Eze I think will do a job based on what I've seen in the past but I still think our back four will be vulnerable to a bit of pace and invention (eg. Hemel at home last season). Coleman, I think, is an improvement all round on Solly. Elsewhere in the team it's very difficult to form a judgment not having anything to go on.

However, I see other sides around the Division (Hemel, St Albans, Chesham, Poole) strengthening and I wonder if we have can say the same? On the other hand, we've never - until Mackey - gone down the route of bringing in star names and it's worked well enough that way in the past.

A bit of pessimism, caution, call it what you like, but I'll say 7th.

Anything less than making the play-offs again would be a failure IMO so I'm going to say no lower than 5th.

But, we should be going all out to win the thing.

Michael Briscoe is the defender. I think our squad is good enough for play offs. However I fear the rest of the league is stronger this year. St Albans will win it for me.

Very hard to predict with the promoted and relegated teams being very much 'unknown quantities'...will they do a Gosport or a Bedworth etc

Poole have alot of money to spend after a previous player was sold on for a big fee, and they got a cut. Cant remember the players name though.

I would like to think that was true as I am a fan of his, but speaking to his dad yesterday he said that Sam was not going to rush back and was still targetting November.
He is training but not yet kicking a ball.

No point rushing him back.
