Surely you can't decide to lock a thread because it goes on too long?
How ridiculous is that?

Its locked as nothing is being achieved in whatsoever. Just bickering and snide digs. Absolutely pointless-and CERTAINLY not what this forum is for.

The thread was about Kyle Haynes. By page 2 it wasn't about Kyle Haynes. It had run its course.

Most of our threads go off on tangents, every forum in the country experiences the same thing.
It quite clearly hadn't run it's course because people were still commenting.
Just because you don't like/agree with how it's running doesn't mean you can lock it.
Had it been a thread about Stour getting to the fa cup third round for example then I'm convinced you wouldn't have locked it after seven or eight pages.

The length of the thread had nothing to do with it.
Every forum in the country then locks a thread when it's goes MASSIVELY off tangent. Which this had.

It's got nothing to do with if I like a thread or not. It's purely the fact we have very limited memory, and perhaps that should be prioritised to a Stourbridge FC thread, because you know, this is a Stourbridge FC forum. You can claim all you like that the Haynes thread was about Stour. As admin, I don't agree. It had became an argument. Have the argument elsewhere if it means so much to you.

I'm prepared to hazard a guess that he would lock such a thread IF it had gone way off the original topic and become decidedly personal and to some extent rather unpleasant.

From a  very happy "happy clapper" !!!

I think I'll start up a happy clappers Union and we can all worship at the alter of the "thought police" .

All the real  fans can now have a right pop at me,
........that is after they get back from the Hawthorns of course !!!

I don't go to the Hawthorns and I have a season ticket at Stour....am I a real fan?

I wonder how many other threads have gone massively off tangent without being locked?!

Fao everyone is a great example.

By page 8 TCP and Nath's Nan were both being discussed, why wasn't this thread locked?
It later went on to discuss who Rasam was....
When does it get decided to terminate a thread?

It got decided about an hour or so go, by the admin of this forum. If you'd prefer, I'll lock that as well?

You've completely missed the point that the thread went off topic AND became malicious and personal. By BOTH sides of the 'divide'. Hence why I intervened. If you want to create a super-duper lets have a big row thread in the OFF TOPIC, go ahead.

How about post 10 of 'seasons greetings'.

You know the one started by the Devil himself. Yes i mean the real devil! Twisted Evil

If memory is in short supply, why not delete some older topics that no one will ever go back to?

Just a thought like. Cool

Maybe you should lock them though, you know just in case someone wants to post about our trip to Stratford for a pre season friendly?
