1Points deduction for Bedworth? Empty Points deduction for Bedworth? Thu Feb 14 2013, 17:42

TRM

From Bedworth's own website...

"The Greenbacks are facing a possible £2,000 fine and a three points deduction if they fail to play their away game at Bideford on Tuesday (7.45).

Attempts to have the date changed have been rejected by the Southern League after manager Steve Farmer reported to the Board that he was unable to raise a team.

Farmer, who himself misses the game because of a family holiday, has revealed that only three of his 19 registered players are available to play.

Said chairman Peter Randle: "Steve tells us that none of those 16 can get the time off work again because they took a day off when the original game was postponed on January 29th.

"Apparently, they all need to give a fortnight's notice to their employers requesting another day off for Tuesday but there was not enough time to do that."

The Southern League refused to agree to a new date, and have instructed Bedworth to sign a new batch of players immediately to fulfill the fixture or face a maximum £2,000 fine with a three points deduction.

"We are also disappointed with the intransigence of Bideford who refused to budge over setting a new date," said the Greenbacks chairman, "we find their attitude deplorable particularly when our secretary assures us that he only provisionally agreed to February 19th for the rearranged game."
