Overall summary is two points down the drain as we were largely the architects of our own downfall.

A very promising first 15 minutes including a few good chances and their keeper earning a yellow for bringing Dodd down in a position similar to where Solly hand balled outside the area against Halesowen. After that though their keeper had a good game although he could do nothing about Hawley's opener - he turned and hit home after great work on the right by Dodd.

After that we let them get into the game a lot more and we had at least two huge let offs before half time - one a shot hit the inside of the far post and straight into Price's arms and the other was when their striker ballooned a shot way over the bar with only Price to beat.

The second half was more of the same and we soon conceded a penalty, which was a poor one and Price made the save to keep us ahead. We had a bit of a better patch which culminated in Lait hitting home a second after a blocked Hawley shot ballooned conveniently into his path.

After that it was pretty much all Stamford pressure and the inevitable happened as Green accidentally knocked a cross past Price, seemingly under no pressure.

However we make it to injury time and in the third minute of that we win a soft free kick just inside our half and for some strange reason Pierpoint took it, wanted to pass to Clarke to keep it in the corner but he hit it straight out of play for a total waste. Cue Stamford getting the ball up the other end, winning a corner, and getting a second goal which was almost the lack kick of the game.

Knight did well at left back although most agreed it seemed harsh to drop Smikle. Broadhurst was our stand out player for the second consecutive week and it was good to see Dodd have more of an impact this week after being completely ineffectual against Ramsbottom.

One point from six against the bottom two sides and five goals conceded isn't good, whichever way you look at it.

Like last week though, fair play to Stamford who battled away and more than deserved something from the game. This league is a tough nut to crack but we can help ourselves by managing the game better at times, I.e not hitting the ball straight out of play from our own free kick in the 93rd minute instead of keeping possession.

Enjoyed my first away game of the season though and looking forward to the next one.
